Well it’s been a while since we last posted a blog on here, and I expect you can tell why…August is a really busy time for any caravan site in North Devon and we’re only just catching up with ourselves. Although this summer has been really nice and sunny, towards the end of August we got some rather unsettled weather, culminating in a wet and windy Bank Holiday weekend – typical! But despite the weather people really enjoyed their holidays with us, including these folks who had a bit of a nightmare holiday but still posted this review on TripAdvisor: Great non-big-chain family friendly campsite.
August also brings us the usual site inspections to check our ratings and facilities. In order to keep our Visit England 4 star rating and AA 4 pennant status we have to show a constant commitment to improving and maintaining the site and all it’s facilities, plus getting above the required percentages in all their specified sections.
We were very happy with the site inspection reports and thought we’d share some of the highlights with you:
‘…I received a very friendly greeting from Andrew Noall and Winston Rice when I arrived at this excellent family owned and run holiday park…I found all the grass areas to be well cared for and neatly trimmed, with lush grass throughout and colourful flower displays at reception and each of the facility blocks…I particularly like the way this expansive park is divided into smaller areas, each with its own toilet block, to give the impression of cosiness. All the facility blocks were cleaned and maintained to a very high standard. This park never stands still and the amount of re-investment made here is highly commendable. New for this season is a bio mass boiler, now in service to all the facility blocks and during this installation the opportunity was taken to introduce new water/waste points along the line of the biomass piping. Toilet block 4 has received a total upgrade for this year, with top quality wall boarding in light colours, with contrasting doors, modern suspended WCs, under floor heating and new basins, taps, tops and mirrors. As if this was not enough, the block has been extended to include a good-sized laundry, fully fitted with commercial machines and 8 stainless steel sinks, a lovely baby-change room with baby board, worktop and sink, and a further fully fitted disabled unit. There is also a ladies ‘powder room’ where part of the original laundry was situated…Some new and very attractive flower/shrub beds have also been created in corners where a pitch would not work…As always, this was a very enjoyable visit to a dynamic park and I am delighted to confirm a rise to 4 AA GOLD Pennants, with the appropriate increased Quality Score of 90% to reflect the continuing improvements for the benefit of campers.
‘Cleanliness – 98%
Generally a very high and improved cleaning standard noted on this assessment…Chemical point and refuse bays pristine, no litter observed around the park and the shop/reception presented in excellent order. All toilets and showers displayed a very high standard with routine cleaning evident including attention to polishing fittings and mopping the floors. Washing-up and laundrette facilities all immaculate…
Major investment has been made installing new biomass boilers. A very consistent level of cleanliness noted; certainly an achievement considering the number of guests on the park. Friendly and welcoming staff. Many leisure facilities and farm attractions for guests to enjoy.’
We’re really pleased that all our work installing the biomass boiler has been acknowledged, also the major upgrade to block 4. We’ll be continuing the hard work through this winter, watch this space for news on what our winter projects will be…
