Dave the Dolphin

Dolphin ZoeThis summer there has been a visitor in Combe Martin bay – ‘Dave the Dolphin’ an incredibly friendly, inquisitive and playful dolphin who never seems to miss an opportunity to show off for the crowds! He even has his own facebook page!

One of the best ways to get up close to Dave is to take a Kayak out, and Combe Martin is the perfect place to try it, whether you are an experienced paddler or you’ve never tried it before. Local company ‘Surfside’ offer kayak hire from Combe Martin beach, have a look at their website for details and for great photos and videos of Dave the Dolphin!

Dave or Doris?

At Ilfracombe Rescue day in August, visitors watched as the dolphin jumped and swam during the lifeboat show. But rumours have it that due to its size and markings this is a different dolphin, and the RNLI crew have reportedly nicknamed it ‘Doris’

We’d love to hear if any visitors to Stowford have seen Dave (or Doris) this summer, send us any pictures to enquiries@stowford.co.uk and we may include them in a photo gallery.
