Pride of Britain Awards

We were thrilled to hear that one of our employees has been nominated for a Pride of Britain Award!

Andrew Fisher who works as a salesman at Stowford South Wales is also a retained firefighter in the South Wales Fire and Rescue service (as are many of our South Wales staff!) and is a Branch manager for the young firefighters scheme. This is a two year programme, the main focus of which is to develop citizenship in young people. Each of the Young Firefighters works towards a BTEC Level 2 Award in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community. Young Fire Fighters also design their own community projects and get involved in fundraising events.

But it was for his tireless fundraising to support local youngster Eva Taylor and her family that he was nominated for the Pride of Britain award. He has organised charity car washes and functions to help Eva get the equipment she needs, such as a digital speaking box and specially designed wheelchair. Andrew says that he does all this work not for any kind of recognition, but because he enjoys serving the community and helping people in need – the nomination is very welcome nevertheless!

We wish Andrew the best of luck – keep up the good work!
